An Indication of the True Difference Between Left and Right
While four-in-ten (39%) Democrats say they will watch the Oscars, this drops to one-in-eight (13%) among Republicans. Unsurprisingly, political independents split the difference, with 22% planning to view the awards show.

Any suggestions as to what could be responsible for this difference?

I was thinking it was more about a divorce by conservatives from pop-culture, and a greater interest in news for conservatives over liberals.
Here is an article about political breakdown on TV:
The survey also offers a slew of data about the viewing habits of Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are the most dominant political group in the prime-time TV audience across most genres-animation, comedies, documentaries, dramas, movies and talk shows. Oh, and I usually clean my guns while watching TV on Sundays, but maybe that is because I think I am a centrist.
As a centrist, you own guns, which you keep nice and clean, but you may have removed the firing pins.
Clean, and locked. But only because I have kids. Otherwise they would be laying about with the rest of my crap.
